Of course, no one in Jerusalem even suspected that the famous, esteemed Rabbi Akiva was a former shepherd, whom they used to mock and ridicule. Rabbi Akiva realized that as well. However, he had one heart-felt wish: to see his children and wife as soon as possible.

The city’s residents excitedly began preparing to greet such an esteemed guest. People from other cities flooded to Jerusalem as well to see the famous Rabbi Akiva, even if from afar.

Rabbi Akiva was excited too. He looked forward to the warm welcome he would receive in Jerusalem – a city where people used to laugh at him, and especially – to the long-wished-for reunion with his family.
